Winery history Castello Tricerchi

The estate is centered on the eponymous medieval castle, expanded and completed in 1441 by the Tricerchi family; the complex today houses the property's ownership and winemaking activities managed by their descendants. The original buildings were constructed on the Via Francigena, and over time the property has preserved its agricultural and historical character.

Production philosophy

The estate reports a vineyard approach inspired by organic principles, with hand-harvesting, fermentations with indigenous yeasts, extended macerations and traditional aging in large oak casks to showcase Sangiovese.

Terroir and vineyards

The vineyards are located on the northern slope of Montalcino, around the castle, at approximately 290 m altitude. The soils are heterogeneous, with clays, limestone and sand; the predominant exposures are north and west. The estate comprises several historic parcels.
