The project originated from the founders' desire to revive sugarcane cultivation in the Modica area; the plantation began in 2021 and the initiative is presented as a return to the local supply chain covering cultivation, distillation and bottling. The commercial brand is Mater.

A terroir-driven, artisanal approach: enhancing the local raw material (sugarcane), small-batch production and communicating the connection with southeastern Sicily.
