Distillation and production

Production method

Production of single malt in the Speyside style: use of malted Scottish barley and local water (Caperdonich Spring), distillation in discontinuous pot stills — tall, slender stills with water-cooled purifiers — and maturation in selected casks, predominantly ex-bourbon and ex-sherry.

Distillation

Distillation in discontinuous pot stills using tall, slender stills and water-cooled purifiers; a double purification of vapours is indicated in official information.

Ageing

Aging in selected casks, mainly ex-bourbon casks and Spanish oak ex-sherry casks, to shape the light and fruity character of the single malt.

Producer history Glen Grant

The Glen Grant distillery was founded by brothers John and James Grant in 1840 in Rothes, Speyside. Throughout its history the facility has been at the forefront of technical innovation — including the use of tall stills and water-cooled purifiers — and developed the celebrated garden that inspired the aromatic character of its bottles. The company joined the Campari Group in the early 2000s (announcement December 2005).

Production philosophy

A pursuit of lightness, delicate aromatic finesse and a fruity, floral profile. The brand highlights the legacy of its founder James "The Major" Grant and the combination of tradition and innovation in its production process.
