Producer history Royal Brackla

The distillery traces its origins to the Cawdor Estate, founded by Captain William Fraser in 1812. Production received royal recognition in the early decades of the 19th century (the official site reports that the whisky received the Royal Warrant in 1833, earning the title "The King’s Own Whisky"). During the 20th century the site passed through various owners and underwent restructurings; today Royal Brackla is part of the John Dewar & Sons portfolio, a company controlled by Bacardi.

Production philosophy

Emphasis on single malt quality and sherry cask finishing to achieve rich, complex flavours. The brand positions itself as a premium range, focusing on final maturation in selected casks to impart fruity and spicy notes.

Awards and recognitions

For the 12-year expression the official site reports recent recognitions including awards from the International Whisky Competition (Best Single Malt Scotch 12 Year Old & Best Highland Single Malt), a CWSA Gold Medal and Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (as indicated in the official product profile).
