Production method

Current production of Yellowstone expressions takes place at Limestone Branch Distillery (Lebanon, KY). The range includes blends of barrels of different ages, single‑barrel selections and finishes in wine or fortified casks for some editions. Historically, some expressions were sourced or distilled by third‑party partners before production was consolidated locally.

Ageing

Aging in American oak barrels for bourbon/KS BW expressions; some releases receive finishes in wine or fortified casks (e.g. Armagnac, Amarone, Marsala) or in sherry casks for specific labels.

Producer history Yellowstone

The Yellowstone brand was introduced in 1872 by the J. B. Dant Distillery. Ownership and production changed several times during the 20th century; in the 1990s the brand entered the sphere of the David Sherman Company (later Luxco). From 2015 Luxco and Limestone Branch Distillery collaborated to bring historic production back to Kentucky. In 2021 the ownership group of Luxco's brands became part of MGP Ingredients, which today includes Yellowstone in its portfolio of brands and related distilleries.

Production philosophy

Yellowstone positions itself as a brand that values the historical heritage of American bourbon: it offers a range combining accessible expressions, selected single barrels and special releases finished in wine or fortified casks. The approach balances tradition (historic recipes and family references) with experimentation in finishes and barrel selections.

Territory

Kentucky, United States (brand originally from the Kentucky region; current production concentrated in Lebanon, KY).

Awards and recognitions

Awards reported for some expressions (e.g. Yellowstone American Single Malt: ASCOT and SIP awards reported on the brand's official website).
