Pazo Barrantes Albariño, produced by the acclaimed Marqués de Murrieta winery, is a white wine that captures the essence of the Albariño variety in the Rías Baixas region of northwestern Galicia in Spain. This winery, historically known for its prestigious Rioja wines, extends its winemaking mastery to Galicia with Pazo Barrantes, demonstrating Marqués de Murrieta's versatility and broad reach in Spanish winemaking art.

Pazo Barrantes stands out for its varietal purity and vibrant expression of the Rías Baixas terroir, known for its mineral-rich soils and Atlantic climate that gives the wines a distinctive freshness and vibrancy. The Albariño grapes, hand-harvested from the vineyards surrounding the Pazo de Barrantes estate, are carefully vinified to preserve their intense aromas and balanced structure.

In appearance, the wine has a brilliant straw yellow color, with greenish reflections that announce its freshness. On the nose, Pazo Barrantes Albariño offers a rich and complex aromatic bouquet, with predominant notes of white pulp fruit, such as apple and pear, citrus accents and a marked minerality reminiscent of the proximity to the sea. These aromas are enriched by floral nuances and a light herbaceous touch, which add elegance and depth to the wine.

In the mouth, the wine is lively and fresh, with a well-balanced acidity that gives dynamism and a pleasant aromatic persistence. The flavors of fresh fruit blend with mineral notes and a slight salty hint, typical of wines produced near the ocean, leading to a clean and refreshing finish.

Pazo Barrantes Albariño is an extremely versatile wine at the table, ideal for accompanying a variety of dishes, especially seafood, grilled fish and Asian cuisine. Its freshness and liveliness also make it perfect as an aperitif, stimulating the palate and preparing for the culinary experience.

With Pazo Barrantes Albariño, Marqués de Murrieta once again demonstrates its commitment to raising the standard of Spanish wines, offering an elegant and sophisticated interpretation of Albariño that reflects the authenticity and richness of the Galician territory.

The winery traces its origins to Don Luciano de Murrieta, who introduced Bordeaux techniques to Rioja and began exporting its bottles. The estate and the famous Castillo de Ygay lie at the heart of the winery’s history. Ownership passed to the Cebrián-Sagarriga family in the 1980s, who have invested in the restoration and modernization of the facilities while preserving its traditional identity.
