The Saumur-Champigny L’Ile Quatre Sous produced by Chateau Yvonne is an excellent example of how the wines from the Loire Valley can combine elegance and strength. This red wine is distinguished by its composition, mainly from Cabernet Franc grapes, known for their ability to impart intensity and freshness to the wine.

The harvest is carried out manually, with a careful selection of the grapes which are then vinified using traditional methods to preserve the distinctive aromatic characteristics of the grape variety and the terroir. The aging takes place in oak barrels which impart a subtle note of vanilla that blends beautifully with the aromas of red and black fruits, such as cherry and blackcurrant, complemented by hints of black pepper and damp earth.

On the palate, the Saumur-Champigny L’Ile Quatre Sous is vigorous yet balanced, with smooth tannins and a freshness that invites a second sip. It pairs wonderfully with red meat dishes, game, and aged cheeses. This wine not only reflects the winemaking tradition of Chateau Yvonne but also manages to offer a unique experience that will enchant lovers of quality wines.

Region: Saumur, Valle della Loira. ([vivino.com](https://www.vivino.com/wineries/yvonne))
Country: Francia
Grapes: Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Pineau d'Aunis
Estate focused on Saumur and Saumur‑Champigny, with small-scale production and notable single parcels. Main wines: Yvonne Blanc, Yvonne Rouge and cuvées such as La Folie, Le Gory and Le Beaumeray. Certified organic farming and the use of biodynamic practices. Artisanal production with native-yeast fermentations and minimal cellar intervention.
Winery history
The castle has stood for centuries, with vineyards historically surrounding Parnay; the modern vineyard was restored in the late 1990s and, in 2007, Mathieu Vallée took over management, retaining the name Château Yvonne and developing the production of historic cuvées such as Yvonne Blanc and Yvonne Rouge.
Production philosophy
The estate practices organic farming and, according to several sources, follows biodynamic principles and low‑intervention winemaking methods: hand‑harvesting, indigenous yeasts, limited use of sulfites and little or no filtration/fining. The approach aims to express the terroir naturally.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in Parnay, within the Saumur and Saumur‑Champigny appellations, with a terroir of limestone/tuffeau and parcels spread across several small plots around the village and on the 'Côte' that slopes down to the Loire.
