| Neat, with ice or water |
It’s a versatile whisky: appreciated neat to capture its finesse, but it also lends itself to a splash of water to open up the aromas; a moderate amount of ice softens it without hiding its character. Ideal with hard cheeses, cream-based desserts or simple dark chocolates, it fits well into informal tastings and pairings that require a soft, enveloping companion.

Distillation
For single malts traditional copper pot stills (wash still and spirit still, double distillation) are used; the blend combines malt and grain distillates produced with the techniques typical of each type, then assembled by the master blender.
Ageing
Maturation in wooden casks (mainly oak) in bonded warehouses; the minimum period for Scotch is 3 years, while Ballantine's maintains stocks aged for decades for some expressions.
