In its 12-year expression, the Double Cask by Macallan presents itself with an amber-gold color, which anticipates the richness of the olfactory sensations that unfold on the nose. Notes of citrus, caramel, and a light hint of ginger intertwine with touches of ripe fruit and sweet spices, creating a seductive and complex aromatic bouquet.
On the palate, the Macallan 12Yo Double Cask reveals its velvety and full structure. Flavors of dried fruit, such as raisins and figs, dominate, enriched by nuances of vanilla, cinnamon, and milk chocolate. The taste experience is further intensified by the presence of honey and hazelnut, which blend into a long and warmly persistent finish, with a slight aftertaste of toasted oak.
This whisky is not only an excellent example of Macallan's craftsmanship but also an ideal choice for connoisseurs looking for a spirit capable of offering a rich and layered tasting experience. Ideal to be savored neat to fully appreciate its complexity, the Macallan 12Yo Double Cask can also be accompanied by a small piece of dark chocolate, which enhances its sweeter and spicier notes.

Distillation
Small copper pot stills ('Curiously Small Stills') built by Forsyths; traditional new‑make production process for single malt (use of copper pot stills).
Ageing
Maturation in oak casks with heavy use of sherry‑seasoned casks (Jerez, often Oloroso); combined use of European and American oak and of ex‑bourbon casks. Many casks are seasoned with Oloroso in Jerez before arriving in Scotland.
