The Mortlach 8 Year Old 2006 Whisky, bottled by Douglas McGibbons, is a powerful testimony to the mastery of traditional Scottish distillation. Distilled in the year 2006 and aged for 8 years, this whisky presents a surprising complexity given its young age. With its 46% alcohol volume, it offers a perfect balance between intensity and smoothness.
The Mortlach distillery, located in the heart of the Speyside region, is renowned for its unique approach to distillation, which involves partial triple distillation. This method imparts the whisky with a particular richness and complexity, distinctive of Mortlach. On the nose, the whisky releases notes of ripe fruit and sweet malt, with a touch of wood spices derived from its aging in oak casks.
On the palate, the Mortlach 8 Year Old reveals itself as full and rounded, with hints of caramel, vanilla, and a fine note of chocolate, concluding with a long and slightly spicy finish. This whisky is ideal for those seeking an authentic and vigorous expression of Speyside, capable of offering an intense and memorable tasting experience.

Distillation
Traditional procedure with a "partial-triple" distillation regime producing a new make commonly described as distillate 2.81; use of worm tubs for condensation, which impart structure and salinity to the spirit.
Ageing
Maturations in various types of casks depending on the expression: refill and first-fill casks are used, with extensive use of sherry casks for some references; certain special releases are finished in French oak or other selected woods/finishings.
