Moonshine, or "moonshine", is the term used to define the distillate clandestinely produced in America during prohibition; to evade controls, distillation was done at night in very isolated places and near rivers.

It is normally made with corn, cereals and the addition of sugar.

Moonshine is a well-known whisky, still produced today in the mountainous and wild area of the Appalachians, located on the border between Virgina, North Carolina and Kentucky.

A simple "test" to verify the gradation of Moonshine consists in shaking it in a transparent container: if the bubbles are large and disappear almost immediately, the gradation will be higher; if, on the other hand, the bubbles are small and disappear more slowly, the alcohol content will be lower.
