Production method

Coloma rums are described as distilled from sugar cane molasses and aged in American oak (ex-bourbon) barrels; some expressions receive a finish in casks that previously contained the Coloma coffee liqueur. The Licor de Café Gran Reserva is produced by natural infusion of 100% Arabica Excelso coffee with Caribbean rum of at least 3 years, then left to rest in used American oak barrels for 8–10 weeks.

Ageing

Aging in American oak (ex-bourbon) barrels; some bottlings undergo finishes or short affinements in casks that previously contained the Coloma coffee liqueur. The coffee liqueur is infused and then rested in used American oak barrels for 8–10 weeks.

Producer history Coloma

Production activity originated around Hacienda Coloma, a family plantation and manor house with a long agricultural tradition. The trading group Coloma Ltda. reports activity in the wine and spirits sector since 1980 and promotes the production of rums and liqueurs made starting from the company's own coffee production, located at about 1,700 meters above sea level in the Fusagasugá area (Cundinamarca).
