More questions

The Rum Special Edition ITP of Long Pond comes from the historic distillery located in the Trelawny region, Jamaica, an area renowned for producing high-quality rum thanks to the favorable climate and rich local winemaking tradition. Made exclusively with local molasses, this rum stands out for its particular artisanal processing that involves careful aging in oak barrels, ensuring a perfect balance between intensity and smoothness.

On the nose, it opens with enveloping notes of ripe tropical fruit, vanilla, and a touch of sweet spices, while on the palate it reveals a full and complex structure, with hints of caramel, dark chocolate, and light smoky nuances. The finish is persistent and harmonious, perfect to be enjoyed neat or as a premium ingredient in classy cocktails.

A rum that celebrates Jamaican identity, ideal for enthusiasts seeking an authentic and refined experience.

Long Pond

TrelawnyJamaicaSince 1753

Long Pond is a historic producer of Jamaican rum based in the parish of Trelawny. Historically it supplied bulk rum to blenders and international brands; in recent years it has been relaunched as a brand/distillery issuing official bottlings and single-cask selections.
  • Historic production site with roots in the 18th century (circa 1753).
  • Renowned for high-ester rums with the typical 'funky' style of the area.
  • For most of its history it supplied bulk rum to blenders (e.g., historical connections with Captain Morgan through supply).
  • Part of the National Rums of Jamaica (NRJ) group; first official Long Pond bottlings launched from 2021.
  • The distillery was severely damaged by a fire in July 2018 and resumed full activity with a documented reopening on 22 June 2022.

The story
Long Pond originated as an estate and rum production facility in Trelawny Parish (Jamaica) with earliest attestations in the 18th century; many sources place its origin around 1753. During the 20th century ownership passed through several parties (including Seagram) until becoming part of National Rums of Jamaica (NRJ). For most of its history Long Pond operated primarily as a bulk rum supplier to blenders and brands. The distillery experienced temporary closures (including an environmental shutdown in 2012), was hit by a significant fire in July 2018 and resumed operations with a documented reopening ceremony in June 2022. Since 2021 NRJ has also begun marketing official expressions under the Long Pond name.
Distillation
Double-retort pot still
Ageing
Barrel ageing with an extensive 'barrelling' practice at high percentages (NRJ distillates are traditionally barreled around 70% ABV); many single-cask releases show prolonged tropical maturation.
