More questions
The Salice Salentino Riserva from Masseria Surani expresses with restraint the structure expected of a Riserva bearing that name. Deep in color with ruby highlights, it offers a rich aromatic profile of ripe fruit, subtle floral hints and gentle spice that emerge with aeration. On the palate it shows concentrated material, well-integrated tannins and a gustatory progression supported by pleasant sapidity, finishing with a persistent finish that invites a second taste.
It pairs naturally with traditional dishes of red meat, roasts and aged cheeses, yet also stands up to heartier preparations featuring mushrooms or rich sauces. It is advisable to open the bottle before serving to allow the aromas to unfold; the recommended serving temperature is cool but not cold. Ideal for those seeking a full-bodied red to accompany substantial dinners while remaining moderately complex. It is suitable for both convivial moments and more formal occasions.

- Range of wines that includes Primitivo di Manduria DOC, Fiano Puglia IGT, Negroamaro rosé, and a Primitivo-Cabernet blend.
The story
The masseria originated as a typical Apulian farm in the early 20th century. The modern winemaking project was initiated by the Tommasi family with the first documented harvest in 2014; since then the estate has been revitalized with work on the vineyards and cellar to enhance the local varieties and the terroirs of Manduria, Lizzano and Guagnano.
Production philosophy
To produce wines that express their terroir by prioritizing indigenous varieties, with vineyard management attentive to biodiversity, controlled yields and viticultural choices aimed at achieving elegance and moderate alcohol levels rather than an overly fruity style.
Terroir and vineyards
The project is located in Salento, with estates in Manduria, Lizzano and Guagnano; the soils are predominantly calcareous with red, iron-rich earths that enhance structure and aromaticity. The vineyards benefit from the moderating influence of the nearby Ionian Sea.
Awards and recognition
Estate mentions in international rankings: the Primitivo di Manduria was included among Wine Enthusiast's 'Top 100 Best Buy 2023' with scores awarded, and the Fiano Surani received high scores/recognition.
