The story
The history of Sauza begins with Don Cenobio Sauza, who in 1873 acquired the distillery 'La Antigua Cruz', later renamed La Perseverancia; since then the Sauza family has played a significant role in the development of modern tequila. During the 20th century Don Eladio and Don Francisco Javier Sauza expanded the brand, introduced production innovations and promoted the tequila denomination of origin. The brand has gone through several phases of corporate ownership: it passed among international groups (including Pedro Domecq / alliances with Allied Domecq) and was acquired by Beam Global in 2005; since 2014 it has been part of the international group controlled by Suntory (Beam Suntory / Suntory Global Spirits).
