Let’s talk about Whisky Tomatin 12Y 100cl - Giftbox

More questions

Tomatin Whisky 12Y 100cl in Giftbox is an exquisite expression of Scottish tradition in the world of spirits. Distilled in the Highlands of Scotland, this single malt matures for 12 years in a combination of ex-bourbon casks and ex-sherry casks, giving the whisky a complex and balanced character.

Visually, it presents an amber gold color that invites tasting. On the nose, it opens with a rich bouquet of aromas: ripe fruit such as apples and pears merge with hints of sweet malts and a light spiciness. This olfactory profile evolves into notes of vanilla and honey, thanks to the influence of the bourbon casks, while the sherry casks enrich the palate with touches of dried fruits and chocolate.

On the palate, Tomatin 12Y is smooth and creamy. The sweetness of the malt and fruit is balanced with a fresh acidity and slight notes of spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish is long and pleasantly warm, with a lingering aftertaste that leaves a memory of chocolate and spices.

This whisky is a perfect example of how tradition and modernity can come together to create a high-quality product. Presented in an elegant giftbox, Tomatin 12Y is ideal for gifting to whisky lovers or for enjoying on special occasions.

Producer

Tomatin

Tomatin is a Highland single malt distillery located near the village of Tomatin, south of Inverness. Formally founded in 1897, it is known for a soft, fruity and generally lightly peated style; it is primarily controlled by the Japanese company Takara Shuzo and produces both single malt bottlings and spirits destined for blends.

The story
The distillery's first formal registration dates to 8 June 1897; after an initial closure in 1906 it reopened in 1909. In the post-war years the facility expanded significantly and in 1974 reached a peak with 23 stills and a capacity around 12.5 million litres per year, becoming at the time the world's largest malt distillery. The industry crisis of the 1980s brought financial difficulties: in February 1986 Tomatin was acquired by the Japanese companies Takara Shuzo and Okura & Co., with Takara remaining the majority shareholder. From the 2000s the distillery downsized its equipment (reducing stills to 12) and shifted strategy, placing greater emphasis on single malt expressions and maturation experiments (e.g. the Cù Bòcan line and numerous core/limited releases based on different cask types).
