The story
The William Lawson brand was created in the 19th century (commonly cited as introduced in 1849). During the 20th century the name passed through several owners: it was acquired by entities linked to Clan Munro / Martini & Rossi and in 1972 William Lawson Distillers was established, acquiring the Macduff distillery. In the 1990s the Bacardi group entered ownership through acquisitions, and today the brand is managed by John Dewar & Sons under Bacardi.
