The story
The original recipe dates back to 1868, when a friar gave the formula to Salvatore Averna. Production remained a family tradition and over time the brand established itself in Italy and abroad; in 1958 the company became Fratelli Averna S.p.A. and in 2014 the Averna Group was acquired by the Campari Group. Historically the drink is linked to the territory of Xiboli and the province of Caltanissetta (Sicily).

To valorize Sicilian tradition and territory while preserving the family recipe based on Mediterranean herbs; to maintain the amaro's style as a versatile product for tasting and for mixing.

Production method
Amaro: prepared according to the traditional recipe with a long infusion/maceration process of herbs, roots, spices and citrus peels until the desired intensity is reached. Grappa (Frattina): distillation of the pomace, described as a slow distillation of Chardonnay pomace.
Distillation
For grappas: slow distillation of the pomace. For the amaro: long infusion/maceration of herbs and spices according to the traditional recipe.
