The story
Cladach was introduced in 2018 as part of the Diageo Special Releases line. The release was conceived as a tribute to malts located on the Scottish coast: the blend brings together malts from Clynelish, Inchgower, Oban, Talisker, Caol Ila and Lagavulin. It was created for Diageo's annual special releases series and distributed in limited quantities.
Production philosophy
To showcase the 'coastal' character of the malts composing the blend, creating an aromatic profile featuring maritime notes, light smokiness and the fruity richness typical of Diageo's malt heritage.

Blend of selected single malts from coastal distilleries; maturation in a range of casks (including ex-bourbon and refill hogsheads/butts); bottled at cask strength and marketed as a limited release. Presented with natural colour and, according to product sheets, non chill-filtered.
Ageing
Maturation in a mix of casks: first-fill American oak ex-bourbon, refill American oak hogsheads, refill European oak butts and ex-bodega (sherry) European oak butts; subsequent blending and bottling at cask strength (57,1% ABV).
