Garofoli Winery
The Garofoli company was founded towards the end of the 19th century; over time their name has become synonymous with a high quality wine from the Marches, bringing Verdicchio to the top since the 1980s. Today Garofoli boasts a centuries-old history and is managed by the fifth generation of the family, a brand synonymous with refinement and classicism, exquisite and intense scents.
The vineyards of the estate are divided between different locations in the province of Ancona covering a total of 50 hectares on a hilly area between the sea and the Apennines, with an altitude between 50 and 300 m a.s.l. The grapes needed for production are harvested in the four farms owned by the company, and others purchased from local growers; these are then taken to two different cellars where they begin processing according to the traditional systems of making wine.
The vinification of the red grapes takes place in thermo-conditioned fermenters with subsequent refinement in oak barrels and casks. The white ones are instead softly pressed with decanting of the musts at low temperatures; they are fermented by adding selected yeasts in underground or refrigerated stainless steel tanks. After being bottled cold, some wines endure further refinement in the bottle, in a special underground room at a low temperature.
