Winery history Adriano Ramos Pinto

The house is named after its founder, Adriano Ramos Pinto, and has its roots in the Douro. From its earliest days it stood out for innovative marketing strategies and for its attention to bottling quality and grape selection; in subsequent decades it expanded its landholdings by acquiring several quintas in the Douro. In 1990 it became part of the Louis Roederer group, while retaining family management and continuing to develop both its Port production and its Douro still wines.

Production philosophy

An approach rooted in terroir research, special vineyard selection and parcel-level work; it combines tradition and innovation with a focus on quality control across the production chain and on enhancing each quinta.

Terroir and vineyards

Operates in the Douro, with estates spread across the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior sub-regions. The four main quintas cited in the sources are Quinta do Bom Retiro, Quinta da Urtiga, Quinta dos Bons Ares and Quinta de Ervamoira, which have varied exposures and soils and supply both Port wines and still DOC Douro wines.
