Winery history Calissano

The winery originated as a family-run business tied to the Calissano family: Luigi Calissano began commercial operations at the end of the nineteenth century, developing over the ensuing decades an enterprise with branches and a strong presence in sparkling and aromatized wines. Over the course of the twentieth century production focused on wines from the Langhe, classic-method sparkling wines and vermouth; following corporate changes the name/brand is now held and managed by groups that have promoted its relaunch.

Production philosophy

Promoting the Langhe and Alta Langa region by combining local tradition with the production of sparkling wines made using the Traditional Method. Particular attention is paid to selecting base wines also suitable for vermouth production, with reference to the Piedmontese aromatic herbs used for flavored vermouths.

Terroir and vineyards

Langhe and Alta Langa. Historical and operational links connect the brand to the city of Alba and to locations in the Alessandria area, where activities related to the label are based.
