Winery history Cantina Tiezzi

The winery is named after winemaker and agronomist Enzo Tiezzi. In the 1980s Tiezzi began building his agricultural enterprise with the purchase of the Cerrino estate, followed by Cigaleta, San Carlo, Poggio Scopeto and, in 1999, the historic Soccorso estate. The Soccorso estate has ancient origins linked to Prof. Riccardo Paccagnini and to the production of Brunello since the 19th century; the historical awards from that period are preserved at the winery.

Production philosophy

The estate adopts a traditional approach respectful of the land: organic viticulture, hand-harvesting, spontaneous fermentations in wooden vats or concrete tanks without temperature control, and aging in large Slavonian oak barrels. The aim is to express the identity of Sangiovese and the appellation through established artisanal practices.

Terroir and vineyards

Located in Montalcino, the estate comprises five vineyards spread across the municipality. The Cerrino and Cigaleta vineyards are about 3 km from Montalcino at approximately 350 m above sea level; Vigna Soccorso, situated against the town walls and the Santuario della Madonna del Soccorso, is at about 560 m above sea level and is bush-trained with a southwest-facing exposure.

Awards and recognitions

Podere Soccorso boasts historic awards from the 19th century, displayed at the estate.
