Winery history Maison Vergnes (Vergnes)

The brand is linked to the winemaking tradition of the Limoux area: the vineyards and the Martinolles estate were owned by the Vergnes family for much of the 20th century, and in 2011 ownership passed to Jean-Claude Mas / Domaines Paul Mas. Maison Vergnes is now used as a private label for wines and sparkling wines produced in the vineyards of that area.

Production philosophy

Production focused on the characteristic sparkling wines of Limoux and on wines prized for their freshness and drinkability; commercial messaging highlights viticultural practices attentive to the territory and traditional winemaking.

Terroir and vineyards

Limoux area in southern France, a hilly zone with clay-limestone soils and elevations around 200–600 m; climate influenced both by the Mediterranean and by cooler air currents, which favors the production of sparkling wines in the Limoux/Blanquette de Limoux/Cremant de Limoux appellation.
