Distillation and production

Distillation and production

Production method

For Marzadro grappas, the use of water-bath distillation in a discontinuous pot still is documented; some products (e.g., aged lines and the 'Espressioni' series) involve blends and subsequent barrel ageing. For Gin Luz, separate infusions of the botanicals followed by distillation are employed (documented for this label).

Distillation

Water-bath distillation in a discontinuous pot still for grappas; for Gin Luz documented separate maceration/infusion of botanicals with subsequent distillation (use of continuous/regulated stills also documented for some production phases).

Ageing

Aging in small casks of fine woods for barrel-aged grappas; some expressions use solera systems or long periods of resting in casks for reserves.

Producer history Marzadro

The activity started in 1949 in Brancolino di Nogaredo (TN), when Sabina and Attilio Marzadro began distilling local pomace. The company has remained family-run and developed over time with plant expansions and new product lines; the current production site and hospitality spaces are also noted for modern architecture that integrates with the Vallagarina landscape.

Production philosophy

Enhance local raw materials and Trentino grape varieties with attention to quality and experimentation: combine traditional distillation methods with innovative aging and formats to bring grappa and other spirits to a broader audience.

Territory

Vallagarina (Nogaredo), province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy.

Awards and recognitions

Documented international awards: examples include IWSC recognitions (Pomace Brandy Trophy / gold medal for 'Le Giare' - IWSC; Silver Outstanding medals for references such as 'Grappa Anfora' in previous years).
