Distillation and production

Distillation and production

Production method

Each ingredient/organic ingredient is processed and distilled individually; the brand uses pot still (copper) distillation of botanical components which are then assembled into blends. The process avoids fermentation aimed at producing alcohol, producing an alcohol-free product through botanical distillates and their blending.

Distillation

Pot still (copper) distillation of single botanical components followed by blending of the distillates; process developed to obtain aromas without going through alcoholic fermentation.

Producer history Seedlip

Seedlip originated from founder Ben Branson's experiment in the British countryside; the project began in 2014 as an answer to “what to drink when you’re not drinking”. After the commercial launch the range expanded and the brand attracted investment (Distill Ventures/Diageo in 2016) leading to a subsequent majority stake by Diageo. Seedlip grew rapidly with presence in numerous bars, restaurants and international markets.

Production philosophy

To offer a sophisticated, non-sweet alcohol-free alternative built around botanicals and a single-ingredient processing approach; communication focuses on nature, extract quality and the mixing experience.

Territory

United Kingdom (originated in the English countryside; headquarters on a farm in the Chilterns) with international distribution and presence in selected markets and bars.

Awards and recognitions

The official site lists recognitions and awards including mentions in Drinks International and results at competitions such as the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and IWSC in the Low & No category.
