Toro Albalá

Explore the spirits, production style and story of Toro Albalá.

Andalusian family winery producing wines including the sweet Don PX Pedro Ximénez wines from the Montilla-Moriles PDO.

Producer history Toro Albalá

The winery’s origins date to 1844, when the family founded a small cellar in Aguilar de la Frontera. In 1922, José María Toro Albalá moved the cellar to the town’s former power plant, establishing Bodegas Toro Albalá. In the 1960s, Antonio Sánchez shaped the winery’s identity and championed vintage wines.

Production philosophy

The producer focuses on vintage wines intended to express each harvest and the decisions made during production. It also says it preserves tradition and gives particular attention to ageing and the artisanal finishing of its special bottles.

Territory

The winery operates within the Montilla-Moriles PDO, with its headquarters in Aguilar de la Frontera and another cellar in Moriles. For Don PX, the company specifies grapes from the higher-quality areas of Sierra de Montilla and Moriles Altos; grapes are dried in the Montalbán area.
