Producer history Tyrconnell

The Tyrconnell name dates back to the 19th century and originates from the commemoration of a 1876 horseracing victory by the Watt family (Watt's Distillery). The brand remained inactive for much of the 20th century and was brought back to market by the family/distillery associated with Kilbeggan/Cooley at the end of the 20th century. Contemporary Tyrconnell bottles come from the Kilbeggan area / facilities linked to the Cooley/Kilbeggan group, today part of the portfolio managed by Beam Suntory.

Production philosophy

The range targets an approachable, balanced Irish single malt for everyday enjoyment, emphasizing traditional double distillation and the use of wine-cask finishes to create distinct aromatic variants while maintaining a soft malt core.

Territory

Ireland. Historic base/brand linked to Kilbeggan (County Westmeath); modern production is connected to the facilities and maturation choices of the Cooley/Kilbeggan group.
