La Madonnina extends over 70 hectares of territory, on the western side of the Bolgherese Road, in the area between the Metalliferous Hills and the sea, in Bolgheri a fraction of the municipality of Castagneto Carducci, in the province of Livorno, at an altitude of only 45 m s.l.m with a predominantly western exposure. One of the most evocative and exclusive views of Bolgheri is the vision of the rows of rows all ordered and in symmetry with each other, which from a distance stand out like a compact turf, under the row of maritime pines and oaks.
The estate is now owned by Konstantin Nikolaev, a Russian tycoon partner of the N-Trans Group, a large Russian railway and port operator. A powerful man and passionate about Italian wine who has decided to land in Bolgheri, a place chosen for the beauty of its territory and the nature of its wines. The manager of the vineyard and cellar is the famous oenologist Riccardo Cotarrella.
The soil is partly clayey and partly sandy, the vines grow with great balance, and are divided into; two hectares of Bolgheri DOC and four hectares of Toscana IGT, divided between Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and a small part of Petit Verdot.
The vineyards, planted in 2002, are protected to the west by the Macchia del Bruciato owned by Antinori Guado al Tasso, covering an area of about 7 hectares.
Tenuta la Madonnina is located in an ancient farmhouse, among fine vineyards, prolific olive trees and a large orchard, practically a small natural jewel.
All the company's products are the result of specific and selective choices, made with respect for tradition, but also experiments aimed at enhancing the individual vines, which can express their full potential. From so much experience and dedication, products that are the maximum expression of the excellence of the Tuscan territory can only be derived.
