Brezza Barolo DOCG is made from Nebbiolo grapes, Lampia sub-variety, grown in the municipalities of Barolo, Monforte d’Alba and Novello, in the south-western part of the appellation. The vineyards lie at around 300 metres above sea level, on clay-silt, sandy and silty soils, with both eastern and western exposures. The Brezza family has produced this Barolo for generations, bringing together the distinctive characteristics of different soils and microclimates in a balanced expression of the territory.
Winemaking follows the method used for the family’s cru wines, with a shorter maceration period. The wine is aged for two years in large Slavonian oak casks holding 1,500 to 3,000 litres, followed by a further year in bottle. Compared with the cru wines, it has a more moderate structure, while generally offering an expressive nose and notable elegance even when young. A traditional Piedmontese red with refined character, it is an accessible introduction to the Barolo style and to Brezza’s classic approach.
