The Pinot Nero Selection Alexander Gottardi represents a refined expression of the Pinot Nero grape grown in the renowned Mazzon area, in Alto Adige. The carefully selected grapes reflect the unique characteristics of this mountainous territory, characterized by significant temperature variations and calcareous-clay soils that give the wine elegance and complexity.

Carefully aged in oak barrels, this Pinot Nero stands out for a rich and enveloping bouquet, where notes of ripe red berries such as cherry and raspberry emerge, complemented by delicate spicy hints and subtle floral nuances. On the palate, it reveals a velvety structure, with well-polished tannins and a pleasant persistence, enhancing its gastronomic vocation.

Excellent with white meats, game dishes, and medium-aged cheeses, the Selection Alexander Gottardi is an ideal choice for those seeking a sophisticated Pinot Nero, capable of telling the authentic character of the Alto Adige territory.

Family-run winery in Mazzon (Egna, South Tyrol) known for its production focused on good-quality Pinot Noir, with vineyards situated on sites exposed to the afternoon sun.
Region: Alto Adige / Südtirol
Country: Italia
Founded: 1986
Grapes: Pinot Nero (Blauburgunder), Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer
Vineyards situated in the renowned Mazzon area, celebrated for Pinot Noir. Vineyards acquired in 1986; first production in the renovated winery in 1995. Since 2010 the winery has been exclusively dedicated to Pinot Noir. Generational transition: Elisabeth Gottardi at the helm since May 2022. Production and aging focused on elegance: selective use of barriques and large casks for the reserves.
Winery history
The Gottardi family, originally involved in the wine trade in Innsbruck, purchased the vineyards in Mazzon in 1986. Over the years the vines were replanted and the winery renovated: the first wine produced in the renewed facility dates back to 1995. Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer were also cultivated in the past, but since 2010 the estate has focused exclusively on Pinot Noir. Management has remained family-run: after the death of the founder Bruno and a period under Alexander’s leadership, since May 2022 the winery has been led by Elisabeth Gottardi.
Production philosophy
Utmost attention to Pinot Noir and the terroir: meticulous winemaking to express the elegance and identity of Mazzon, with a careful selection of barriques and oak aging for the flagship wines.
Terroir and vineyards
Mazzon, a west-facing hill in southern South Tyrol; its microclimate — warm days and cool nights — is considered ideal for Pinot Noir.
