Gutturnio Superiore - Perticato Valandrea DOC - Il Poggiarello is a lively red wine that enchants with its robust and multifaceted personality, reflecting the authenticity of the Piacenza territory. Produced by the renowned Il Poggiarello winery, this wine is an excellent expression of the Barbera and Bonarda grape varieties, meticulously cultivated in the vineyards of Perticato Valandrea, an area respected for its viticultural vocation.

Il Poggiarello's Gutturnio Superiore stands out for its deep ruby red color with violet reflections that promise a rich and intense drinking experience. The olfactory profile is complex and intriguing, characterized by notes of ripe fruits such as plums and cherries, along with spicy and balsamic nuances that evoke the land from which the grapes are harvested.

In the mouth, the wine is generous and well-structured, with soft but persistent tannins that balance harmoniously with a lively freshness. The aftertaste is long and pleasantly aromatic, with a finish that leaves room for returns of red fruit and spicy accents.

Gutturnio Superiore is a wine that pairs beautifully with rich and flavorful dishes, such as meat roasts, game, and aged cheeses. It is also an excellent companion for convivial evenings, where its character can be appreciated both on its own and as the star of the table.

Aged in steel tanks to preserve the purity of the fruit followed by a brief passage in wooden barrels to enrich its complexity without overpowering the fruity profile, this Gutturnio Superiore is a specimen that testifies to the high quality and passion that Il Poggiarello winery dedicates to the production of distinctive and memorable wines.

Winery history
The Il Poggiarello project began as a venture by the Ferrari and Perini families, whose shared history dates back to 1882. In the 1980s the family acquired about 20 hectares in Val Trebbia and launched the Il Poggiarello range to showcase the area's typical grape varieties, remaining family-run to this day and maintaining a strong link with Piacenza's winemaking culture.
Production philosophy
Four words guide the winery's approach: terroir, uniqueness, simplicity and ambition. The winery places great emphasis on the vineyard as the source of its wines, promoting biodiversity and environmentally friendly practices; the grapes are certified organic and interventions in the cellar are kept to a minimum to preserve their expressiveness.
Terroir and vineyards
The hills and valleys surrounding the Trebbia River, with views over the city of Piacenza and the surrounding plains: a context of limestone hills and favourable exposures that defines the style of Il Poggiarello's wines.
Awards and recognitions
Individual wines from Il Poggiarello have received recognition: for example, 'Lo Straniero' has received scores from specialist guides, while 'Il Valandrea' and 'La Barbona' appear in rankings and have won medals, as reported on the product pages.
