The Côtes-du-Forez Gamay sur Volcan from Les Vins de la Madone is a French red wine that captures the essence of the volcanic terroir of this little-known but fascinating region. Made exclusively with Gamay grapes, this wine offers a lively expression of fruit, with clear notes of cherry and raspberry, blended with hints of spice and a slight minerality, reflecting the volcanic soil from which the grapes originate.

The winemaking is carried out with careful attention to preserving the varietal character and the terroir. The process includes traditional fermentation followed by a brief period of maturation in steel, to maintain the wine's freshness and aromatic qualities.

It is recommended to serve the Côtes-du-Forez Gamay sur Volcan slightly chilled, around 16-18°C, to enhance its bright acidity and lively fruity profile. This wine is excellent for pairing with light meat dishes, medium-aged cheeses, or as a surprising complement to mushroom-based dishes. A true gem for lovers of authentic and unconventional wines.

Winery history
The project is led by Gilles Bonnefoy, who began by assembling and leasing plots in the Champdieu area in the late 1990s. Management moved to organic farming in 2001 and to a biodynamic approach with Demeter certification in the early 2000s; the estate gradually expanded its plots around the hill known as "la Madone."
Production philosophy
Parcel-by-parcel work, hand harvesting and separate vinifications to highlight the characteristics of the different soils. Priority is given to natural vineyard management and to certified biodynamic practices.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards located in Champdieu in the Loire department, a high‑altitude area of the Loire Valley. The soils are highly varied: volcanic basalts and several types of granite, which give rise to different aromatic expressions and structural profiles in the wines.
