The Girlan IGT 448 slm Red Wine is an intriguing blend of native and international varieties, reflecting the uniqueness of the South Tyrolean terroir. Produced by the renowned Girlan winery, located in the heart of South Tyrol's wine-growing region, this wine is a tribute to the specific altitude of 448 meters above sea level, which is reflected in its name.

The IGT 448 slm is composed of a careful mix of Schiava, Pinot Nero, and Lagrein grapes, which together provide this wine with a balanced structure and a distinctive character. In the glass, the 448 slm Red shows a lively and bright ruby red color, which immediately invites tasting. The nose reveals fruity aromas of cherry and raspberry with subtle hints of sweet spices and a touch of aromatic herbs, typical of the South Tyrolean terroir.

On the palate, the wine offers fresh acidity and soft tannins, well integrated with the fruit. Its elegance and pleasant taste persistence make it particularly versatile at the table, suitable to accompany a variety of dishes, from red meat to moderately aged cheeses.

The winemaking process follows traditional methods but also incorporates modern winemaking techniques to ensure that each bottle best expresses the potential of the grapes used. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness and purity of the fruit, followed by a short maturation period in wooden barrels to add complexity without overwhelming the varietal notes.

The Girlan IGT 448 slm Red Wine is an authentic and vibrant expression of a territory rich in wine history, capable of surprising and satisfying the most demanding palates.

Winery history
Founded in 1923 by an initial group of growers who chose an ancient 16th-century farmhouse in Cornaiano, the winery has evolved into a cooperative bringing together about 200 families. The ancient underground cellars and historic buildings coexist with modern facilities: harvesting and winemaking are managed with care for each individual vineyard to highlight local specificities.
Production philosophy
The winery aims to showcase historic local varieties and to interpret international varieties in a way that reflects the local terroir. Sustainability is central: targeted agronomic practices, reduced use of mineral fertilizers, energy-saving measures and the introduction of lighter bottles to reduce emissions.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards are located mainly in the Oltradige and the Bassa Atesina, on morainic and porphyric soils. Some crus and sites mentioned include Gschleier, Plattenriegl, Montiggl and Mazon, known for their diversity of exposure and soil.
Awards and recognitions
The winery and individual wines have received national and international recognition: for example, the Trattmann Pinot Noir Riserva has been listed among wines awarded "3 Bicchieri" by Gambero Rosso for consecutive years; the Vigna Ganger Pinot Noir Riserva has received very high scores from Wine Advocate; the Gschleier Alte Reben Vernatsch has been highlighted by Decanter among notable wines.
