The Palazzina Sangiovese Superiore DOC from Tenuta Casali is an example of viticultural excellence that celebrates the winemaking tradition of Romagna with a modern expression of quality and taste. Originating from the lush vineyards nestled in the hills around the territory of Faenza, this wine pays tribute to the most representative grape variety of the region, Sangiovese.

The vinification of Palazzina involves maceration of the skins at a controlled temperature, followed by maturation in oak barrels, which gives the wine a surprising complexity, enriching its bouquet and structure. It displays a deep ruby red color, with hints that turn to garnet as it ages.

On the nose, it is distinguished by its intense and elegant aromatic profile, with notes of ripe cherry, plum, and spicy accents of tobacco and leather, derived from its evolution in wood. On the palate, Palazzina Sangiovese Superiore is robust yet harmonious, with a good acidity that balances its significant tannic structure, translating into a long and pleasantly persistent finish.

This wine pairs perfectly with dishes of traditional Italian cuisine such as tagliatelle with meat sauce, roasts, grilled meats, and aged cheeses. It is also an excellent choice for special occasions or as a gift for wine lovers eager to discover the unique nuances of Sangiovese grown in the lands of Romagna.

Ideal to drink immediately, it also has great aging potential, revealing over time new facets of its character. A sensory experience that encapsulates the passion and craftsmanship of Tenuta Casali, guardians of quality viticulture.

Winery history
Founded by Valerio and Paolo Casali in 1978 to continue the business their grandfather Mario began in the 1940s, Tenuta Casali is today also led by the new generation. The estate has developed its identity by cultivating indigenous grape varieties and reviving historic vineyards in the Mercato Saraceno area.
Production philosophy
The approach is agricultural and focused on protecting the land: "artisan" wines with minimal cellar intervention, hand harvesting, soil care, and targeted experimentation. Time in the vineyard and the cellar is regarded as a fundamental ingredient, with attention to sustainability.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located in the Mercato Saraceno subzone, in the Valle del Savio. The vines grow on river terraces with mixed soils of gravel, sand, marl and clay; the significant diurnal temperature range and proximity to the Apennines contribute to the wines' freshness and intensity.
