The Merlot daSolo Monferrato DOC in Magnum format by Marchesi di Gresy is a sophisticated and intense expression of the Merlot grape, grown in the fertile lands of Monferrato, one of the most prized wine areas of Piedmont. This wine represents the excellence and winemaking passion of the Gresy family, who for generations have been producing high quality wines, respecting tradition and promoting innovation.

"daSolo" is a project born from the desire to express the potential of Merlot in an area known mainly for its native vines. The choice of the name "daSolo" reflects the belief that this vine, if well interpreted, can express a unique and distinctive character even outside its original environment. Production in Magnum format enhances the characteristics of the wine, offering greater aging capacity and the possibility of evolving, developing complexity and depth over time.

Visually, Merlot daSolo presents itself with an intense and deep ruby red color, which heralds a rich and engaging olfactory and gustatory experience. On the nose, the wine expresses a complex aromatic bouquet, with notes of ripe red fruit, such as plums and blackberries, enriched by nuances of sweet spices, chocolate and a light vegetal touch, typical of Merlot when it is grown in cooler climates.

In the mouth, the Merlot daSolo Monferrato DOC reveals a powerful but balanced structure, with soft and well-integrated tannins that contribute to a velvety and enveloping texture. The acidity is balanced, supporting the intense flavors of ripe fruit and giving freshness to the palate. Notes of vanilla and toasting, due to the aging in barrique, blend harmoniously with the fruit, leading to a long and persistent finish.

This wine is ideal in combination with rich and savory dishes, such as grilled red meats, stews, mushroom dishes and mature cheeses. The Magnum format makes it perfect for special occasions, where wine can be shared and appreciated in company, celebrating the conviviality and joy of good food and good wine.

In conclusion, Marchesi di Gresy's Merlot daSolo Monferrato DOC in Magnum format is a testimony to the winery's ability to elevate an international grape variety by interpreting it through the unique terroir of Piedmont, offering a tasting experience that is at the same time profound, complex and intensely pleasant.

Winery history
The estate of Tenute Cisa Asinari has been linked to the di Grésy family since the 18th century; the family has owned the Martinenga cru since 1797. Winemaking under the Grésy label in its modern form was begun by Alberto di Grésy around 1973, when the family decided to produce wine exclusively from their own grapes and to promote wines that expressed the identity of the vineyards.
Production philosophy
The estate places great emphasis on vineyard care and on respecting the grape varieties and tradition: winemaking aims to enhance the terroir’s expression without altering it, producing elegant, balanced wines that reflect the character of each vineyard.
Terroir and vineyards
The estates are located across the Langhe and Monferrato and include Martinenga, Monte Aribaldo, La Serra and Monte Colombo. Martinenga is regarded as one of the area’s finest geographical indications, and the grapes from all the estates are generally vinified at the Martinenga winery.
