Susumaniello Salento PGI "Cantalupi" by Conti Zecca is a red wine that vigorously expresses the typicality and uniqueness of the Susumaniello vine, a native Apulian variety recently re-evaluated for its exceptional oenological qualities. The Conti Zecca winery, located in the heart of Salento, has been a protagonist in the region's viticulture for centuries, combining traditional production methods with cutting-edge technologies to enhance the character of the native vines.

Susumaniello, whose name probably derives from its prodigious productivity in the first years of life ("somarello" or "loaded like a donkey"), is known for producing wines of great structure and aromatic intensity. The "Cantalupi" line by Conti Zecca represents a tribute to the best varietal expressions of the territory, and this Susumaniello is no exception, offering a complex and enveloping profile that captures the essence of the vine and the land of Puglia.

The vinification of Susumaniello "Cantalupi" involves controlled maceration and fermentation, aimed at extracting colour, aromas and tannins in a balanced way, followed by aging in wood which helps to round the wine, adding complexity to its profile without overpowering the fruit.

Visually, the wine presents itself with a deep and inviting ruby red color. On the nose, intense notes of ripe red fruits stand out, such as cherries and blackberries, enriched by spicy nuances and a light touch of vanilla, evidence of the aging in wood. These olfactory sensations are intertwined with balsamic and floral scents, which add elegance and depth to the bouquet.

In the mouth, Susumaniello "Cantalupi" is rich and full-bodied, with a beautiful structure supported by ripe and well-integrated tannins. The balance between acidity and alcohol is impeccable, leading to a long and persistent finish, with a pleasant evocation of the fruity and spicy flavors perceived on the nose.

This wine is particularly suitable for accompanying rich and tasty dishes, such as roasts, braised meats, grilled meat dishes and mature cheeses. Conti Zecca's Susumaniello Salento PGI "Cantalupi" is an authentic expression of Salento viticulture, capable of offering an intense and memorable tasting experience to lovers of robust and complex red wines.
