Description

The Cabernet Sauvignon Nero d'Avola Sicilia DOC "Hugonis" by Tenuta Rapitalà is a red wine that combines two of the most emblematic and characteristic varieties, one international and the other native to Sicily, to create a unique and highly expressive blend. This wine represents the meeting between the structure and complexity of Cabernet Sauvignon and the fruity richness and softness of Nero d'Avola, resulting in a product of exceptional depth and harmony.

Visually, it presents itself with an intense and deep red color, almost impenetrable, which anticipates its richness and intensity. On the nose, the wine offers a complex and enveloping bouquet, with notes of ripe red fruits, spices, chocolate and a light touch of vanilla, the result of aging in wooden barriques which adds layers of olfactory complexity.

On the palate, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Nero d'Avola reveals a powerful yet balanced structure, with silky, well-integrated tannins that support a rich, full body. The flavors of ripe fruit mix with notes of spices, tobacco and chocolate, leading to a long and persistent finish that leaves a pleasant sensation of warmth and complexity.

Winery history

The estate was created through the reconstruction undertaken by Hugues Bernard conte de la Gatinais and Gigi Guarrasi after the earthquake in the Valle del Belice. Founded in 1968, the winery has grown by blending indigenous and international grape varieties, maintaining a production approach focused on elegance and a close connection to the territory, now carried forward by the winemaking team listed on the winery's website.

To showcase Sicily’s diverse micro-terroirs through a sustainable, organic approach to viticulture, with the aim of combining the richness of the Mediterranean landscape with the elegance of French savoir‑faire.
