Vermentino is a semi-aromatic white grape variety that enjoys a particular diffusion in Sardinia. The Vermentino Sciala grapes from the Surrau winery are grown in the hills of Arzachena, a small town in the province of Sassari. The Vermentino produced in Arzachena, as well as that produced in other municipalities in the same province, is called Vermentino di Gallura DOCG. To make this white wine, the Surrau cellar puts the skins in contact with the must for a short time, then carries out the alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks and finally lets the wine mature for a few months on fine lees.

Once poured into the glass, you can immediately admire the straw yellow color of this excellent Vermentino. Furthermore, if you pay more attention you will also notice the greenish reflections. Its scent recalls the typical Sardinian vegetation with its intense fruity and floral notes. The vegetal notes are also remembered by the soft and persistent flavor of this wine.

Vermentino di Gallura DOCG Sciala is perfect to combine with recipes based on fish, white meats and fresh cheeses.

Winery history
Surrau was established as the Demuro family's winemaking project in the 2000s with the aim of showcasing Gallura's viticultural vocation. The estate has progressively expanded its vineyards in the Surrau valley and around Arzachena, and has built a winery conceived as an architectural space in dialogue with the landscape, complementing production with hospitality services and guided tours.
Production philosophy
Pursuit of the authenticity of the Gallura terroir: sustainability-focused agricultural practices, winemaking that highlights the minerality of the granite soils, and a wine tourism project that combines aesthetics, technological innovation and biodiversity conservation.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located in the Arzachena area, a few kilometres from the Costa Smeralda. Sandy soils of granitic origin, sunny exposure and the influence of the maestrale characterize the terroir.
Awards and recognitions
Surrau’s products have received recognition at both international and national levels.
