The Alghero Torbato DOC "Terre Bianche Cuvée 161" from Sella & Mosca is a refined example of how an almost forgotten grape variety can be revived in a spectacular form through the art of winemaking. This wine is made exclusively with Torbato grapes, an ancient native variety of Sardinia, which the Sella & Mosca winery passionately and dedicatedly cultivates in the picturesque vineyards of Alghero.

The cuvée 161 is named after a particular block of the "Terre Bianche" vineyard that stands out for its rich limestone and clay soil, ideal conditions that bestow Torbato with its distinctive minerality and elegance. The coastal microclimate, with its sea breeze, further enhances the wine's freshness and aroma.

In appearance, it presents a pale straw-yellow color with greenish reflections, suggesting its youth and freshness. On the nose, it reveals a complex bouquet: citrus notes, especially grapefruit and lime, meld with nuances of white flowers and a subtle mineral touch.

On the palate, the Alghero Torbato "Terre Bianche Cuvée 161" surprises with its lively acidity, well balanced by its structure. The aromatic persistence is remarkable, leaving a clean and pleasantly fresh aftertaste. This wine is an excellent choice to accompany flavorful fish dishes, seafood, or as an intriguing aperitif.

Ideal for those looking for a white wine different from the usual, capable of telling the story and terroir of one of Italy's most beautiful wine regions, the Alghero Torbato DOC "Terre Bianche Cuvée 161" from Sella & Mosca is a testament to the Sardinian wine renaissance.

Winery history
Founded in 1899 by two Piedmontese entrepreneurs, Erminio Sella and Edgardo Mosca, the estate was established through the reclamation of the plain north of Alghero. Over time the company has developed across a large Mediterranean property; alongside the historic winery and service buildings there are hospitality facilities created in the old farm buildings. Since 2016 Sella & Mosca has been part of the Terra Moretti group, which has initiated renovation and investment works on the estate.
Production philosophy
It combines the enhancement of Sardinian native grape varieties with the cultivation and celebration of international varieties. It promotes practices focused on environmental sustainability and on the connection with the territory, with sustainability certification projects.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is located in the La Nurra area in northwest Sardinia, near Alghero. The vineyards benefit from calcareous, sandy and clay soils and from the influence of the sea. Sella & Mosca also has vineyards in other parts of the island, such as Gallura and Sulcis.
