Salento Primitivo Rosso PGI "Cantalupi" by Conti Zecca is a wine that enhances the richness and power of Primitivo, one of the most emblematic and appreciated vines of southern Italy, particularly Puglia. This variety is famous for its ability to produce intensely aromatic wines, with a generous concentration of fruit and a structure that knows how to fascinate and involve the palate. Conti Zecca, with his profound knowledge of the Salento area and centuries-old experience in winemaking, presents with "Cantalupi" a version of Primitivo that combines tradition and modernity, reflecting the authenticity and winemaking passion of the family.

Coming from the fertile lands of Salento, where the Mediterranean climate and calcareous soils give the grapes a unique balance between maturity and freshness, the "Cantalupi" Primitivo Rosso PGI is the result of a careful selection of grapes, harvested at the optimal moment of their ripeness. This allows us to obtain a wine that best expresses the varietal characteristics of Primitivo, highlighting its aromatic fullness and gustatory richness.

The winemaking follows an approach that aims to preserve the fruity intensity and aromatic complexity of the grapes, with controlled temperature fermentation followed by refinement which, in some cases, may include a passage in wood to further enrich the wine with nuances spicy and structured. However, the emphasis remains on the freshness and cleanliness of the aromatic profile, to maintain a harmonious balance between power and elegance.

Visually, the "Cantalupi" Primitivo Rosso PGI presents itself with a deep and inviting ruby red color. On the nose, it opens with an intense and complex bouquet, dominated by notes of ripe red fruits, such as cherries and plums, enriched by accents of sweet spices, vanilla and a touch of tobacco, which testify to the maturation and refinement of the wine.

In the mouth, the wine is rich and enveloping, with a solid structure supported by soft and ripe tannins. The well-integrated acidity enhances its freshness, balancing the generous fruity expression and leading to a long and persistent finish, with a pleasant spicy aftertaste.

Ideal in combination with robust and savory dishes, such as roast meats, game-based dishes, mature cheeses and rich dishes of traditional Apulian cuisine, the Salento Primitivo Rosso PGI "Cantalupi" by Conti Zecca represents a perfect match between the expressive strength of Primitivo and the elegance that skilful winemaking can confer, offering a tasting experience that celebrates the richness of the wine-growing Salento.
