The Spumante Alta Langa DOCG Vigna Gatinera Riserva Pas Dosè 72 mesi - Fontanafredda represents a masterpiece of Piedmontese excellence, an expression of the Langhe territory and the art of sparkling wine production using the traditional method. Made with the area's typical grape varieties, Pinot Nero and Chardonnay, this sparkling wine stands out for the prolonged aging of 72 months on the lees, which imparts complexity and finesse to the product.

In the glass, it presents with a very fine perlage and a bright straw-yellow color. The aromatic profile is rich with notes of ripe white fruit, delicate floral hints, and a slight mineral nuance reminiscent of the calcareous soil of the hills. The taste is dry, fresh, with vibrant acidity that balances the structure, and an elegant sapidity typical of long maturations.

Perfect paired with refined seafood dishes, such as raw shellfish or steamed fish, this sparkling wine enhances every special occasion with its personality and depth.

Winery history
The estate made history in the 19th century: purchased by Vittorio Emanuele II in 1858 and associated with Rosa Vercellana, the property was developed by the Mirafiore family and had already established its commercial reputation by the late 1800s. In the 20th century the Fontanafredda brand consolidated as a reference producer in the Langhe; after hardships related to crises and wars, the company regained momentum and, in 2008, was relaunched under new ownership led by Oscar Farinetti. In recent years Fontanafredda has undertaken a program of technical renewal and sustainability known as “Rinascimento Verde,” publishing sustainability reports and holding certifications as reported by the producer.
Production philosophy
Local production focused on quality, the protection of the vineyard landscape and sustainability. Fontanafredda coordinates a network of suppliers to operate across a wide area while maintaining a strong focus on conversion to organic farming, biodiversity and the transmission of agricultural practices between generations, with a significant investment in storytelling and the local community.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in Serralunga d'Alba, in the heart of the Langhe, the estate manages vineyards in several municipalities of the Langhe and lower Piedmont at varying altitudes. The area is characterized by limestone hills and the typical continental climate of the Langhe.
