Schioppettino di Cialla, produced by the historic Ronchi di Cialla winery, is a red wine that elegantly expresses the peculiarities of its native vine and the Friuli Venezia Giulia territory. This wine has a deep and vibrant ruby red color, which immediately invites you to discover its rich aromas.

On the nose, it stands out for a complex aromatic palette, where notes of black fruits such as blackberry and currant stand out, beautifully integrated with nuances of vanilla and black pepper, the result of the skilful maturation in wood. These olfactory elements are further enriched by touches of violets and aromatic herbs, which add a level of freshness and complexity to the bouquet.

In the mouth, the Schioppettino di Cialla demonstrates a medium-full body, with finely woven tannins that support its structure. The balance between acidity and alcohol is well managed, resulting in a harmonious and persistent sip. The long, spicy finish reflects the intensity and purity of the fruit, leaving a memorable trace of dark chocolate and sweet spices.

Perfect to accompany meat dishes such as roast lamb or game, this wine is also an excellent companion for mature cheeses and dishes rich in aromatic herbs. Schioppettino di Cialla is a wine that can be appreciated now, but also has great aging potential, capable of developing further aromatic nuances over the years. An authentic jewel of Ronchi di Cialla, ideal for those looking for a wine that tells the story and tradition of its territory.

Winery history
The Rapuzzi family founded the estate in 1970 in the small Cialla valley, restoring local vineyards and helping to save Schioppettino when the variety was nearly lost. In the 1970s and 1980s the winery perfected the recovery of vine cuttings, produced the first vintages of Schioppettino and received recognition that brought Cialla’s wines to international auctions. The denomination and boundaries of the Cialla cru were officially established by ministerial acts and regulations in subsequent years, consolidating the estate’s reputation as a custodian of Friulian indigenous varieties.
Production philosophy
The estate works exclusively with native grape varieties, favoring controlled yields, selective harvesting and minimal agronomic interventions. In the cellar, winemaking is kept as natural as possible and wines undergo extended ageing — including in wood — to achieve long-lived wines with a strong expression of terroir. Biodiversity protection and low-impact practices are integral to the production method.
Terroir and vineyards
The winery is located in the Cialla valley, a small hilly amphitheatre overlooking the Colli Orientali del Friuli, characterized by a tempered microclimate between the Adriatic Sea and the Julian Alps and by marly, well-stratified soils that favor the cultivation of local indigenous varieties. The area is officially recognized as the cru CIALLA for certain traditional varieties.
