"Laurelwood" takes its name from the soils of volcanic origin covered by loess (winded earth) present in the hilly areas of the Willamette Valley, characterized by the particular "Laurelwood" composition. The Pinot Noir grapes for "Laurelwood" are carefully selected from the best Ponzi vineyard plots, where careful foliage management and manual harvesting guarantee the harvesting of grapes at the optimal point of phenolic ripeness.
