Ponzi's Pinot Noir "Laurelwood" is a fine and complex representation of Oregon Pinot Noir, specifically from the Willamette Valley wine-growing region, recognized for its high quality wines and for being particularly suited to the production of this noble grape variety. Ponzi Winery, one of the pioneers in Pinot Noir production in Oregon, uses innovative and sustainable techniques to grow vines and produce wines that express the essence of their specific terroir.

"Laurelwood" takes its name from the soils of volcanic origin covered by loess (winded earth) present in the hilly areas of the Willamette Valley, characterized by the particular "Laurelwood" composition. These soils are known to give wines a refined structure, subtle minerality and a wide range of complex aromas, thanks to their drainage capacity and richness in nutrients.

The Pinot Noir grapes for "Laurelwood" are carefully selected from the best Ponzi vineyard plots, where careful foliage management and manual harvesting guarantee the harvesting of grapes at the optimal point of phenolic ripeness. The winemaking follows an approach that aims to enhance the varietal qualities of Pinot Noir and the uniqueness of the terroir, using spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts and aging in French oak barriques which enriches the wine with complexity, without overpowering the fruity and earthy notes .

The result is a Pinot Noir of great elegance and depth. Visually, the wine presents itself with a bright ruby red color. On the nose, it expresses a rich and seductive bouquet, with aromas of cherry, raspberry and strawberry, floral accents, spicy notes and a delicate mineral background. In the mouth, the wine shows a medium structure, with silky tannins and balanced acidity that give freshness and drinkability. The aromatic palette is consistent with the olfactory impressions, enriched by nuances of wet earth and wood, which lead to a long and persistent finish.

Perfect when paired with meat-based dishes such as roast duck, grilled red meats and mushroom dishes, Ponzi's "Laurelwood" Pinot Noir is also an excellent choice for special occasions or as a meditation wine, offering a tasting experience capable of underlining the richness and complexity of Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley.
