The Etna DOC Rosso Prephylloxera in Magnum format by Palmento Costanzo is a true celebration of the ancient vineyards of Etna. Grown on land where phylloxera, the scourge that devastated European vineyards at the end of the 19th century, was unable to take root, these century-old vines are a winemaking heritage of inestimable value. Predominantly composed of Nerello Mascalese, with the addition of Nerello Cappuccio, this wine embodies the most authentic and profound expression of the volcanic terroir.

The pre-phylloxera vineyards of Palmento Costanzo are located on the slopes of the Etna volcano, where the mineral-rich soil and the particular sun exposure create ideal conditions for high-quality viticulture. These unique conditions contribute to the production of grapes characterized by exceptional aromatic concentration and flavor complexity.

Palmento Costanzo adopts careful and environmentally friendly viticulture practices, with the aim of preserving the integrity and originality of these historic vineyards. Winemaking is carefully managed to enhance the varietal characteristics of the vines and the uniqueness of the terroir, with fermentations that occur naturally and aging in wood that adds structure and depth to the wine, without overpowering its finesse and elegance.

The Magnum format (1.5 litres) not only emphasizes the conviviality and exclusivity of this wine, but also contributes to its aging potential, allowing the flavors and aromas to evolve harmoniously over time. This bottle is presented in a wooden case, a further sign of the high regard in which this wine is held, making it a prestige gift option or collector's item for enthusiasts.

In appearance, Rosso Prephylloxera shows an intense ruby red color, tending towards garnet with aging. The bouquet is rich and complex, with notes of ripe red fruit, spices, aromatic herbs, and a marked minerality that reflects the volcanic soil of origin. In the mouth, the wine is powerful but balanced, with silky tannins and a lively acidity that supports its long aromatic persistence and elegant, mineral finish.

Perfect in combination with robust dishes such as red meats, game and mature cheeses, the Etna DOC Rosso Prephylloxera Magnum by Palmento Costanzo is an excellent example of how the ancient vineyards of Etna continue to produce wines of extraordinary beauty and complexity, testifying to the richness and the depth of Sicilian winemaking heritage.
