Brasserie du Bocq Brewery
It was 1858 when Martin Belot, a farmer from Purnode, produced a beer on his farm for the first time. Initially, this was produced only in the winter when the staff were not busy with the work in the fields, but in a short time given the success obtained, this became the primary job.
The brewery offered customers a wide range of products, from table beers to stronger ones, and a wide range of densities, colors, bitterness and tastes. Distribution was initially short-range near the brewery with door-to-door delivery. Fu aAt the beginning of the 20th century, a high fermentation brown beer was produced for the first time, La Gauloise, currently the oldest and most renowned brand still produced by the brewery.
In 1949 the company became a joint stock company but despite the timeshare owners it still retains its family nature. Large-scale distribution began in 1960 through supermarkets, beverage markets and beer merchants. With the takeover of the Central Brewery Marbaix-La-Tour in 1967, Brasserie du Bocq shifts production and adds two new beers to its product range.
In 1983, he brought all beer production back to Purnode, where the production tools were radically modernized. Although the Belot family sold their assets to the Keersmaekers family who have been at the helm of the Brasserie du Bocq for over 30 years, and even though the brewery has far surpassed its original structure, the company's values of tradition and passion are remained unchanged.
