Tommasi Winery
In 1902 Giacomo Battista Tommasi married Augusta and moved to Valpolicella where the cultivation of the family lands continued. Giacomo has always considered wine to be a drink of great quality, to be consumed during social occasions and celebrations.
After the war period, the children continue the work started by their father and in their own way help the community of Pedemonte, where the company still resides today. In the 1970s the Tommasi brothers Sergio, Franco, Ezio and Dario expanded the estate and bought the vineyards in Valpolicella Classica and in the Veronese denominations of Soave, Bardolino, Custoza and Lugana; there they built a modern cellar and offices.
In 1959 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico was produced for the first time, a wine that changed the future of the Tommasi company by opening export markets in 85 countries, making this winery a proud ambassador of Italian wines in the world.
Since 1997, the fourth generation of the Tommasi family is still at the head of the rapidly expanding company, with roles of great responsibility. In 2000, Tenuta Prunea was acquired, the largest vineyard in Valpolicella, as well as Conca d’Oro and Groletta. But the continuous search for new denominations has brought them further and further, as far as the surroundings of Lake Garda and beyond the Veneto.
Today the Tommasi Family States includes six estates, with a total of 599 hectares of vineyards, located in some of the most prestigious wine regions in Italy.
