Winery Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite)

The Rothschild family's presence in the vineyards of Pauillac is part of the group's history: James Mayer de Rothschild's purchase of Château Lafite in the 19th century was one of the turning points that led to the current collection of estates now brought together under the name Domaines Barons de Rothschild. Over time the group has expanded by incorporating several properties in Bordeaux and investing abroad, while maintaining a shared approach to managing viticultural knowledge.

The group states an approach that combines respect for Bordeaux tradition with substantial investment in research and development to preserve the quality and resilience of its vineyards; many estates practice parcel-by-parcel selection and varietal trials to address climate challenges.

Historic headquarters in Pauillac with vineyards and estates spread across several Bordeaux appellations and international properties such as Los Vascos, Bodegas CARO and Domaine de Long Dai. Each estate expresses its own terroir and local practices while sharing the group's know-how.

Among the historical distinctions: Château Lafite Rothschild is recognized as a Premier Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 Bordeaux classification; Château Rieussec is classified as 1er Grand Cru in the same classification.
