Winery history Domaine des Baumard

The estate has been associated with the Baumard family since 1634. Its modern configuration was expanded by Jean Baumard through key acquisitions in the 1950s–60s, including vineyards in Quarts de Chaume in 1957 and investments in Savennières in 1968. In recent years the Baumards have been involved in disputes over the elevation of Quarts de Chaume to Grand Cru, a case that concluded with an administrative ruling in 2014. The estate is currently managed by Florent Baumard.

Production philosophy

A focus on "fruit in its purity": selective harvesting and gentle pressing to preserve the grape variety's identity; sustainable viticulture practices the estate says it has followed since the late 1950s.

Terroir and vineyards

Located in Rochefort‑sur‑Loire, in the heart of the Loire Valley, about 20 km southwest of Angers, the vineyards extend on both sides of the river and cover plots within the appellations Savennières, Coteaux du Layon, Crémant de Loire and Anjou.
