Winery history Cantine San Marzano

In 1962, 19 winegrowers founded Cantine San Marzano. In 1996, the cooperative acquired a modern bottling plant and began marketing wine under its own brand. In 2000, it launched Sessantanni, now one of the winery’s signature labels.

Production philosophy

The winery highlights the connection between local viticulture and its region, with a particular focus on Primitivo and alberello-trained vines. According to the winery, Sessantanni is made from grapes grown on old vines.

Terroir and vineyards

The winery is based in San Marzano di San Giuseppe, in the province of Taranto, at the heart of the Primitivo di Manduria area. Sessantanni grapes come from selected old vineyards in San Marzano and Sava, in Salento.
